    THIS. IS. COMEDY. GOLD.

I deactivated Ping after deciding it is just a sham to make you buy more iTunes songs (as i can not stream or save or whatever anything). This is the confirmation field.

One can tell the reality distortion field has reached new levels: A product is not even designed for sign offs.

    jhnmyr:

20 years ago today, the world lost one of the best guitar players of all time, Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stevie defined my love of blues music and my passion to spend as many waking hours as I could with a guitar in my hands. I never met him and I never saw him play live, but he changed my life forever. Stevie quite literally gave me a career in music. Today I’m not John Mayer the famous musician, I’m John, the kid from the Connecticut suburbs who discovered a style of music that spoke for me when nothing else did. And I post this in honor of both Stevie and the thousands of undiscovered guitar players who shut the doors to their rooms, dim the lights and play along to the music of Stevie Ray Vaughan and find their escape through a Fender Stratocaster. Please watch this man play “Texas Flood” from his 1983 performance at the El Macambo. Thank you Stevie.

    Giving Goodsie a Spin

I’m always on the look out for simple ecommerce solutions. Most of my clients are small businesses. The realities of pushing up an ecommerce site are far more complicated then most people have a grasp of. From production to management, even the slicker solutions take an inordinate amount of man hours to put together.

I stumbled on Goodsie after using their other product Flavors.me. After working with the Beta for an hour or so, my first impression is good. It’s simple, real simple. Goodsie has a similar type of design editor palette as Flavors.me, and the product management feature is basic and easy to use.

The only glaring omission I see is the ability to assign a different price to specific product options. This is a potential stumbling block. That said, if you’re looking for something VERY simple, it’s a viable solution. Sign up for the beta and give it a spin.

Here’s a simple shop I just put up selling photo prints.

More thoughts to come. Good start Goodsie guys.

Hey, I’ve got an idea. I want you to come out in to the woods with me and build a hotel with your bare-hands. You can do it for free and then when we’re finished with it, you get half the money that we make from having people come stay with us! Why don’t you build the hotel while I build the website, then at the end, we’ll have two businesses that we co-own!

    Doesn’t that sound fucking amazing?

    borrow

    consumeless:

On the heels of our simply submitted ‘don’t buy’ tip, we say borrow. Swap a book with a friend or visit your library.  Think about doing the same for a tool you’re only going to use once, or a DVD you might watch once in a lifetime. Borrow from a friend. Keep your load light and stop accumulating what you don’t really need.

    Workflow

Experimenting with some new workflow methods. Plagued by the endless list of little stuff that negatively impacts larger workflow (multi-tasking is crap), I’ve created two ‘sprints’. Once in the morning and one in the afternoon. Any task that will takes less than 15 minutes gets put into one of those baskets - and there are a lot of those tasks.

The two sprints can easily be done while juggling other parts of life - before or after hours - as they are easy tasks and don’t require any prolonged concentration. The sprints will have a time cap (thinking an hour) and whatever items are left over from one sprint move to the next.

The goal is to clear out larger chunks of time in the middle of the day to properly work on design or coding tasks.
